Atletico Madrid's Peter Luccin is set to snub a move to England and sign for Real Zaragoza.

The French international has been in talks with Birmingham, whilst Spanish sources also claim that arston viler and Manchester City have both made late moves for his signature.

However, the 28-year-old now looks set to accept the overtures of Zaragoza and remain in Spain.

It is reported that Zaragoza will pay around 2.8 million euros for Luccin.

Meanwhile, Birmingham are reported to have joined Man City in the race to sign Celta Vigo's Borja Oubina.

The midfielder had looked like joining Benfica, but the move failed to materialise and now Birmingham could seal a last-minute move.

He'd be a brilliant buy. You don't get in the Spain national team if you aren't anything good.

Borja Oubiña
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Personal information
Full name Borja Oubiña Meléndez
Date of birth May 17, 1982 (1982-05-17) (age 25)
Place of birth Vigo, Spain
Height 1.80 m
Playing position Defensive midfielder

Celta de Vigo 78 (2 goals)

Spain 2 (0 goals)

Borja Oubiña Meléndez (born 17 May 1982 in Vigo) is a Spanish football midfielder who plays for Celta de Vigo.

A reliable midfielder who has only played for local club in his career, being a team mainstay since 2004, Oubiña has earned two caps for the Spain national football team, the first coming in 2006 against Liechtenstein. After Celta's relegation in 2006-07, Oubiña has stated his desire to leave, although still under contract, and, as of August, it seems that countryman José Antonio Camacho's SL Benfica is in the pole to acquire his services.

only problem is - he's a defensive midfielder! and his scoring record leaves a lot to be desired!

If Johnson or Nafti were leaving today, I could see the sense in signing him - but then we'd need that creative midfielder still.

To be honest, Oubina (if true) and Kallon would be a pretty good transfer window to me.

VIGO, Spain (AP) -Birmingham City has signed Spain midfielder Borja Oubina on loan from second-division Celta Vigo, reports said Friday.

Borja, capped twice, has spent his career with Celta but asked to leave when the club was relegated at the end of last season.

"I'm happy because I'm going to play in such a powerful and attractive league as the English one,'' the 25-year-old Borja was quoted as saying by news agency Efe. "It's true that I would have liked Celta to transfer me and not go out on loan but the club didn't want that.''

Birmingham lies 12th in the 20-team Premier League with four points from four matches.

Hello guys!

I am from Vigo... and a Birmingham supporter from now on :)
Borja is a good singing, let me tell you. I've seen him playing here in Vigo for the last 4 years. He is a "defensive midfilder" allright, but is really talented and skillful. I mean, he's not a Gravessen kind of guy, if you understand.

On a personal level, he is an intelligent lad (Degree on Bussiness), and he doesn't like talking to the media much. Sure he is an international player for Spain, but he doesn't like that "star" status that footballers have nowadays.

I remember him saying years ago that playing in the Premiership would be his dream come true. So I am happy that Birmingham has fullfilled his dream.

Give him time to adapt himself there, and he'll be grand.

Cheers!

Thanks for the info :) Let's hope it's true.

Is he more a play maker or a tackler?

Is there any player you could say is like him?

Birmingham have concluded a deal for Spanish international Borja Oubina.

Skysports.com reported on Friday that Birmingham had joined the race for Oubina and they now look to have landed his signature.

The 25-year-old has shunned interest from Benfica and Manchester City over the last week but now Birmingham have concluded a deal.

It is believed the twice-capped Celta Vigo man will move to St Andrews on an initial season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Pleased

"I'm happy because I'm going to play in such a powerful and attractive league as the English one," Oubina told Spanish news agency Efe.

"It's true that I would have liked Celta to transfer me and not go out on loan but the club didn't want that."

Birmingham moved for Oubina, after they missed out on the signings of Peter Luccin, Mathieu Flamini and Hossam Ghaly.
